Boot Solution for Windows Server 2008

winBoot/i(TM) v2.5 Delivers Key New Functionality Including Direct Installation From DVD to iSCSI Storage, Enhanced Shared Boot Image Support With Persistence, and Diskless/Remote Boot for Windows Server 2008

MISSISSAUGA, Ontario- emBoot Inc., an industry pioneer in delivering network boot capabilities, today announced winBoot/i v2.5, an important update to its iSCSI boot solution for Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2008. winBoot/i provides a centrally managed SAN Boot solution using standard Ethernet network adapters that allows customers to reduce deployment and lifecycle operating costs for servers and PCs, reduce datacenter power and cooling requirements, and improve system resiliency, availability, flexibility, and recoverability.

New functionality in winBoot/i v2.5 includes:
-- Ability to install Windows Server 2008 directly from DVD to iSCSI storage. With this capability local storage is not required to generate iSCSI boot images.

-- Optional host side persistence when booting multiple devices from a single shared iSCSI boot image. Changes made on the booting device can now be stored to local hard disk and re-used.
"Microsoft is committed to working with partners to make cost-effective enterprise-class storage technologies accessible to customers of all sizes," said Bala Kasiviswanathan, director of Storage Solutions Marketing at Microsoft Corp. "We look forward to continuing our work with partners like emBoot to drive iSCSI adoption with advanced functionality such as iSCSI boot to Windows Server customers."

"With winBoot/i v2.5 we are delivering key new iSCSI boot functionality that customers have told us they need to more broadly deploy iSCSI storage across the enterprise," said George Kostiuk, CEO of emBoot. "With this release we are again demonstrating our commitment to delivering an iSCSI boot solution optimized for the Windows computing environments."
