De-multiplex T1 or E1 signals: User selected T1 (or E1) channels can be dropped using the T1/E1 input/output interface. Up to two T1 or E1 channels can be dropped from any one of the received T3 or E3 signals.
Capture Entire T3 or E3 Stream: The T3 E3 analyzer can capture (record) two complete T3/E3 streams to the hard drive as a binary file.

Transmitter Capabilities:

Line testing and diagnostics: T3/E3 transmitter can inject errors and alarms as well as do Bit Error Rate (BERT) testing.

Multiplex T1 or E1 signals: Up to two user selected T1 (or E1) channels can be externally inserted using the T1/E1 input/output interface into any one of the transmitted T3 or E3 signal. The inserted T1 or E1 signal can be selectively transmitted through one or more of the T1/E1 transmit channels, or broadcasted through all the
T1/E1 channels. Additionally, the received T1/E1 signal can be looped back and transmitted or the transmitted

SDG Systems Announces Linux-based TDS Nomad

CRANBERRY TOWNSHIP, Pa., May 1, 2008 -- SDG Systems, LLC today announced the general availability and support of the TDS Nomad rugged mobile hand-held computer running the Linux(R) operating system. SDG Systems will market and sell the Linux-based Nomad, providing technical and warranty support. The Nomad provides a high level of device integration including Bluetooth, 802.11, GPS, Camera, Barcode scanning and USB host and client ports. All Nomads also include a high-resolution screen (480x640 portrait VGA) for sharp, clear images and a 806 MHz PXA 320 processor. The USB host port has been tested to support mass storage, keyboard, mouse, Ethernet and RS-232 serial adapters.

"The level of hardware integration in the Nomad is outstanding," said Lester Hightower, CTO of 10East Corporation. "The difference that the Nomad makes in our applications is immediately apparent. The fast processor, full VGA screen, integrated barcode scanner and USB host are excellent improvements over the TDS Recon, which we also deploy. Having these improvements in the Nomad, without sacrificing any ruggedness, is a big plus."

Like the field-proven Linux-based TDS Recon, the Nomad meets the MIL-STD-810F standard for drops, vibration and temperature extremes. It also has an IP67 rating, meaning it is dustproof and waterproof. SDG Systems also announced software enhancements to their Linux implementation. "With our latest software release, we are providing a general mechanism for users to run their own application exclusively, effectively creating a way to build single-purpose devices rather than a general purpose PDA," said Todd Blumer, President of SDG Systems. "This mechanism allows our Enterprise customers to write a Qt(R) for Embedded Linux application, for example, with a standard software build from us. The customer can reduce their support burden by training users on the application and not the PDA interface."

The Linux-based Nomad utilizes version 2.6.21 of the Linux kernel. The standard user interface is based on Qtopia(R) PDA Edition, version 2.2, which SDG Systems has enhanced to manage the integrated devices. The operating system utilities are based on the Angstrom Linux distribution. A GPE (X11, GTK+, Qt4) user interface option is in development and is available for beta testing. Qtopia 4 support is planned. In addition to the hardware products, SDG Systems provides Linux development support and services.

Pricing and Availability

The Nomad has a 806 MHz PXA320 processor with 128 MB RAM and 512 MB or 1 GB of nonvolatile flash memory and sells for $1649 to $2299, based on the level of hardware features. Additional integrated communication options are planned. The Nomad has a one-year parts and labor warranty with an extended warranty also available. The Linux-based Nomad units may be ordered in OD Green, Yellow and Gray colors and are available immediately. A developers' kit for the Linux Nomad is also available at no cost.

NetEqualizer Provides BitTorrent Compromise for Internet Service Providers

LAFAYETTE, Colo., Jan. 24, 2008 -- ISPs that allegedly block BitTorrent traffic have become an issue in the news lately. Consumer groups are threatening lawsuits against major Internet Providers for invasion of privacy. The good news is that NetEqualizer, by APconnections, has provided a non-intrusive compromise to scaling back BitTorrent traffic for quite some time, and without any spying or looking at customer data.

How You Can Improve the Speed of Vista machine?

Vista is about looks. Every one of those effects, from the translucent windows to the pearlescent shine to the oversized icons, eats up processing power that would otherwise be spent on running applications.
Also, much of the new software that comes on a pre-built computer (i.e. the "free" antivirus, AIM, other mfg. programs) are also serious resource hogs. Norton's AV products have been getting worse and worse each year, to the point where they can cut the system's performance in half.

The best handful of "tweaks" you can make to your Vista system to speed it up are as follows:
(Note: You can access the first three of these options by going to Control Panel's Classic View, then clicking Performance Information and Tools.)

1) Change the Theme: By going into Adjust Visual Effects and unchecking things you can do without (you may want to play around to see how you like it), you can remove all of the resource-sucking features of Vista.

2) Disable Indexing: One of the not-so-new features of Vista is the Indexing Service, which quietly catalogs your computer in the background to make searching faster. Problem is, it uses a lot of resources for (IMHO) a not-so-useful function. Yeah, it helps speed up your searches, but it's not worth the performance sacrifice.
You can disable this by going into Adjust Indexing Options, clicking modify, (clicking Show All Locations if applicable) and unchecking everything.

3) Ditch the Bloatware: All that junk that your computer comes with slows it down. By going into Manage Startup Programs, you can stop them from starting with your computer. Leave all the Microsoft Stuff alone, and disable the others that you don't need. If something doesn't work right after reboot (i.e. no Sound or lousy Graphics), you probably disabled a driver. Just go back in and turn it back on. (Granted, this is a little more dangerous than the other options, so exercise common sense here. We don't want to make things worse.)

4) Scrap your Slow Security Software: If you're still using the "free" Antivirus / Security Suite that your computer came with, you might want to consider something else. While I realize I might get flamed for saying this, I recommend something like Windows OneCare or Webroot's Antivirus for their small performance footprint and "set-it-and-forget-it" ease of use. Plus, OneCare can be used on two other PCs, too.

5) Don't be a Packrat: This one is probably the hardest to stick to, but also the simplest solution. Don't install programs you don't need, keep your documents folder organized, and keep the desktop as clutter-free as possible.

GENEVA, Oct. 25 - STMicroelectronics (NYSE:STM) , a world leader in the supply of semiconductors for power management applications*, today extended its portfolio of power management devices with a new family of flexible and high-performance PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) controllers intended for motherboard and POL (Point of Load) markets. Four new products -- L6726A, L6727, L6728 and L6728A -- integrate a voltage reference, control logic, gate drivers, monitoring and protection circuits into standard SO-8 or tiny 3x3mm DFN packages. Two of the chips offer additional features for high-level applications, including a PowerGOOD output to report power status and the output voltage sense for accurate over-voltage and under-voltage protection.

The L6726A and L6727 are low-cost single-phase PWM controllers, with embedded high-current drivers, enabling the easy creation of general purpose DC-DC step-down converters with excellent performance for a broad range of applications -- from desktop PC sub-systems, such as memories and chipsets, to general-purpose power supplies. With their high level of integration, these compact SO-8 devices allow a significant reduction in the cost and size of the power supply.

The L6728 and L6728A add to the simpler devices the characteristics required by the high-end motherboard market, including plus or minus 0.8% voltage accuracy over line and temperature variations, a PowerGOOD output to provide real-time information on output-voltage status, and the chip-scale 10-lead DFN package. They offer a fixed-frequency 300kHz (L6728) or 600kHz (L6728A) oscillator, for simple but flexible application design. It is the first time that all of these high-level features have been integrated into such a small package, and the devices are particularly suited to servers and niPOL (non-isolated Point of Load) applications.

ST's development of the new family has been carried out in co-operation with key customers, to ensure the optimum combination of features to meet the cost and technical requirements of this high-volume market. In addition to use on server and PC motherboards, the controllers are ideal for modems, set-top boxes (STBs), consumer applications and advanced DC-DC down-converters.

With embedded high-current, high-speed N-channel MOSFET drivers, the chips can be used in the design of power applications driving a few Amps to more than 30A. They operate over a wide input voltage range of 1.5V to 18V, while the integrated 0.8V voltage reference ensures 1% (L6726A, L6727) or up to 0.8% (L6728, L6728A) output accuracy. Sensorless current monitoring, through a Low- Side Power MOSFET, avoids the cost of an external current-sensing resistor and saves board space, and the single- or dual-level over-current protection has programmable thresholds. A range of other features are designed to increase efficiency and reduce the external component count.

Cuts Burning Time in Half from Previous Model

announced its second generation internal Blu-ray Disc(TM) (BD) writer drive
for the computer aftermarket, which boasts 4X BD-R and 16X DVD+R recording
speeds.

The new BWU-200S model cuts BD-R burning time by half compared to the
first generation model, allowing for a full 50GB BD-R disc to be recorded
in about 45 minutes. It also features improved DVD burning speeds, making
it a multi-format combo burner that eliminates the need for more than one
drive in a system.

The drive comes with CyberLink BD Solution software that provides a
comprehensive application for capturing, authoring, editing, burning and
viewing high-definition personal content captured in the native HDV 1080i

SAN JOSE, Calif., Sept. 25, 2007 -GDA Technologies Inc., a global leader in the area of Electronics Design Services and Silicon IP, announced today the immediate availability of HiGig IP, which implements the formatting of the packet for transmission between a family of Broadcom devices. This HiGig availability will make it easier than ever for system vendors to build effective telecom solutions using Broadcom devices.

GDA Technologies' offering of the HiGig core is an enhanced version of the current 10G Ethernet MAC core, adding a robust HiGig protocol feature. The basic transmission method utilizes the Preamble field of an Ethernet packet with four bytes of interpacket gap to allow HiGig ports to connect to other HiGig ports. GDA has already successfully implemented the system on Xilinx's Virtex-5 FPGAs.
